There is a scam hitting the A.M.E. churches around the country involving two individuals one posing as a pastor and lay person of Mother Bethel of Philadelphia and other church's around the country. They will generally call the church on a Sunday morning while worship service is in progress claiming to have car problems and that a mechanic has repaired the car and the person ( the female) doesn't have enough money to pay for the repairs and is asking the church for assistance. The female claims to be traveling towards whatever city they are calling with four children and to be a accomplished musician. I am a member of Visitors Chapel A.M.E. church in El Paso, TX and we were victims of this scam and we have had responses from other churches that have been victimized. Please get this message to all of the districts before anyone else is hurt by this. We placed a call to Mother Bethel and they have had other calls concerning this matter but no one is notifying the other A.M.E. churches. I pray someone will get this out to all of the districts and thank you very much. To God be the glory for all that he has done.
